At Augnito, we believe that the future of healthcare lies at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and human-centric care. As part of our commitment to transforming global healthcare through innovative Voice AI solutions, we are proud to introduce the Augnito Clinician Advisory Council (CAC). This multidisciplinary panel of thought leaders is integral to our mission, offering invaluable insights that shape the development and deployment of our products.

In this three-part blog series, we shine a spotlight on the visionaries behind the CAC—Dr. Vibha Jain, Dr. Arif Khan, and Ramy Khalil, MD. Each post will delve into their expertise, experiences, and perspectives on the evolving landscape of healthcare technology.

This series continues with Dr. Arif Khan, a distinguished pediatric neurologist whose career has spanned continents, touching countless lives along the way. From groundbreaking patient care to pioneering medical conversations, Dr. Khan’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of dedication and innovation.

Spotlight on Dr. Khan: Pioneering Paediatric Neuroscience & Healthcare Innovation

A British Board-certified Consultant Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. Arif Khan has dedicated his career to advancing pediatric neurosciences across continents. Trained at prestigious institutions like the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and University Hospitals of Leicester, he spearheaded complex epilepsy and neurotherapy programs at Leicester NHS Trust before founding Neuropedia—the Gulf’s first pediatric neurosciences center. His entrepreneurial vision further shaped Dubai’s pioneering pediatric orthotics/prosthetics clinic (Xtremity) and the multidisciplinary Kids Neuro Clinic, both redefining specialized care in the region.

An Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University and author of 40+ publications, including the widely referenced Paediatrics – A Clinical Handbook, Dr. Khan blends clinical excellence with systemic innovation. Beyond academia, he champions healthcare advocacy through his Scrubs & Suits podcast, bridging gaps between clinicians, policymakers, and the public.

In this interview, Dr. Khan reflects on transformative patient journeys, the global impact of accessible medical knowledge-sharing, and his vision for AI-powered tools in reshaping paediatric neurology—where empathy and precision converge to unlock brighter futures.

1. As a paediatric neurologist whose career spans multiple continents, could you share a memorable patient interaction that reinforces why you chose this challenging yet rewarding specialty?

“One interaction that has stayed with me involves a young boy with severe epilepsy. His family had exhausted every possible resource, traveling across countries in search of answers. By the time they came to me, they were desperate and emotionally drained. After thorough evaluation and testing, we identified the precise cause of his seizures and started him on a treatment plan tailored to his needs. Over time, his seizures reduced dramatically. Months later, his mother told me that for the first time, he could attend school consistently, make friends, and live a life that felt ‘normal’.

That moment reminded me why I chose this specialty. Pediatric neurology is intricate, and the stakes are incredibly high, but the impact of getting it right is life-changing—not just for the child but for the entire family. Moments like this reaffirm my commitment to this field and inspire me to keep striving for better outcomes, no matter how challenging the path may be.”

2. Your Scrubs and Suits podcast has become a significant voice in healthcare discussions. How do you see platforms like these shaping the future of medical knowledge-sharing and professional networking?

“The Scrubs and Suits podcast was born from a desire to create a space where healthcare professionals could engage in meaningful conversations, not just about medicine, but about the challenges, decisions, and innovations that shape our field.

What excites me about platforms like this is their ability to break down traditional barriers. A podcast doesn’t require a subscription to a journal or attendance at a conference—it’s accessible to everyone, from seasoned doctors to medical students, and even patients who want to learn more.

These platforms help healthcare professionals to connect on a deeper level. They also provide a bridge between disciplines, sparking collaborations that might not have happened otherwise. I believe they are shaping the future of medical knowledge-sharing by making it more inclusive, interactive, and human. The ability to connect globally, learn from diverse perspectives, and share experiences in real time can only strengthen our collective mission of advancing healthcare.”

3. What excites you most about being part of Augnito’s Clinician Advisory Council, and how do you envision AI-powered solutions transforming pediatric care or healthcare as a whole?

“Being part of Augnito’s Clinician Advisory Council excites me because it represents a leap toward smarter, more efficient healthcare. The potential of AI to transform the way we work is immense. For pediatric neurology specifically, AI could revolutionize early diagnosis of conditions like autism or epilepsy by analyzing subtle patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. It could assist in creating more precise, personalized treatment plans and even predict outcomes, enabling us to intervene more effectively.

On a broader level, AI has the power to address some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges—reducing administrative burdens, improving access to care in underserved areas, and enhancing the accuracy of clinical decisions.

What I find most inspiring about Augnito’s work is its focus on solutions that help healthcare professionals rather than replace them. It acts as a tool that lets doctors spend more time with their patients, build trust, and deliver care that is as empathetic as it is effective.”
